Centrifuging
The whole stillage that comes from the bottom of the distillation tower has had its alcohol removed. Next the whole stillage is sent through centrifuges. The centrifuges separate the whole stillage into two parts. The "thin stillage" has most of the fluid and will be sent on to the evaporator. The heavier part, is known as "distiller's grains" and can be sold as animal feed to feedlots and dairies that are near to the plant.

Replacement cost for these centrifuges is about $900k each, or $4.5 million total.
